Bucharest, August 14th, 2009 – in a challenging economical time, national telecommunications operator TELETRANS managed to increase its profit with more than 50% in the first six months of 2009, compared to the same period of last year. At the same time, the company reported a turnover of 4.3 million euro, up 3% over the same period in 2008.
The first half of 2009 brought TELETRANS a positive development of revenues through a new business vision and the appointment of a new management team, combined with a series of measures to increase competitiveness. "During this first semester, our efforts have focused on several directions: business stabilization, streamlining our business by reorganizing internal procedures, increasing flexibility to customers and improving our response time to market requirements. Our measures generated results, the number of customers increased as well as the revenue share independent from Transelectrica – traditional client and unique shareholder of the company. We are practically speaking of a 38% increase in the turnover generated from other clients and of a much higher demand for telecommunication services", declared Horia Hahaianu, TELETRANS General Manager.
TELETRANS aims to end this fiscal year with an income of about 9.5 million euro, 10% more than the revenues recorded in 2008. Early 2009 estimates take into account the completion of targeted objectives, like the expansion of our costumer portfolio and the development of the network on which our company operates, according to market trends. According to financial data from previous years, the revenues brought in during the second semester have a similar importance in the structure of total turnover. The forecast for the entire year takes into account a turnover increase, but it also depends upon the following development of the Romanian economy.
Starting April 2009, TELETRANS became a partner of MCSI in the process of applying the "Government Strategy for Broadband Electronic Communication", which could open up new opportunities and accelerate the company´s positive development. The main objectives targeted in this partnership are the implementation of communication infrastructure and IT&C development programs, as well as ensuring the sustainability of projects and related services.
