Teletrans and MCSI signed a cooperation protocol to implement the National Broadband Strategy
BUCHAREST, April 14th, 2009 – TELETRANS signed a partnership agreement with MCSI, in order to implement the Government Strategy for Broadband Electronic Communications.
This protocol comes as one of the MCSI´s activities meant to accelerate Romania´s transition to an informational society through several steps, such as the adoption of the Broadband Strategy by the Romanian Government, along with launching a public debate upon the Shift Strategy from Analog to Digital.
"The MCSI objectives promoted through the Broadband Strategy are a wide computerization of Romanian society, creating conditions for developing a competitive market, public intervention in disadvantaged areas in terms of access to such communications, as well as highlighting the importance of information society as a determinant of social and geographical cohesion. We appreciate TELETRANS´s openness to contribute to the implementation of these ambitious objectives", said the Minister of Communications and Information Society, Gabriel Sandu.
"The national coverage of the TELETRANS operated network, its redundant feature (the 9 adjacent networks) with a high security degree, together with the expertise and the experience of our technical team are just a few of the aspects due to which we can bring a special contribution to the implementation of our national broadband strategy", declares Mr. Horia Hahaianu, TELETRANS General Manager.
The protocol signed between the two entities establishes the cooperation of the parties to ensure all the necessary information and actions for the implementation of the Government Strategy for Broadband Electronic Communications. The targeted objectives by this partnership are:
- Implementation of the communication infrastructure and IT&C development programs, according to the investments or programs developed or under development and to the government strategy
- Ensuring sustainability of projects and related services
- Spreading good practices in the field
Founded in 2002 in order to initially serve telecommunication needs for Transelectrica, it was noted that TELETRANS had an important functional capacity that remained unsolicited. This factor has determined the commercialization of services to other companies and institutions. Therefore, this year´s development plans aimed by TELETRANS target the company´s reorganization, implementing a new market strategy (leading to a service ratio Transelectrica – Third parties of 1 to 1), adapting to the competitive market environment and providing services with an added value.
At the same time, the completion of the current state of network development is intended together with an increase in turnover by transforming the company into an active and dynamic player on the Romanian telecom market.
